Is temporary email safe? Privacy and practical limits
Learn what a disposable inbox protects, how Hushymaily controls access, and when a permanent email account is the safer choice.
Separate an address without assuming anonymity
A disposable address keeps a short interaction separate from your everyday inbox. It is not an anonymity guarantee. The service handles incoming message content, and infrastructure providers can process network metadata under their own policies.
Knowing the address alone does not authorize message access. Hushymaily uses a separate secret capability. Someone who obtains that key or access to your browser session can read the active inbox.
Treat incoming messages as untrusted
Plain text is the default reader. Optional web HTML is sanitized and sandboxed; scripts, forms and remote tracking images are blocked. These controls reduce active-content exposure but cannot prove the sender is legitimate.
Attachments are not malware-scanned. Download only files you expect from a sender you trust, and use your device’s normal protection. The service accepts only the documented file types and size limits.
Expiration limits access, not every copy of a message
At the deadline the server denies access. Scheduled cleanup removes stored data in bounded batches, and an outage or backlog can delay physical deletion. The sender and other recipients may retain their own copies.
Issued addresses are not assigned again: a hash-only reservation prevents later mail reaching a different inbox. That reservation contains no access token or message content and is separate from expiring inbox data.
Choose the right inbox for the task
Use a temporary inbox for permitted one-time confirmations, newsletter evaluation and authorized email testing. Use a permanent address when you need future correspondence, a durable record or account recovery.
Public information pages may show consent-aware advertising. Private inbox documents never load advertising scripts. Read the privacy policy for actual storage, payment-provider processing and retention details rather than assuming that temporary means no data is processed.
